Breathe is about a power struggle in a relationship – it’s about a couple suffocating from the over-dominance of one of the partners. We felt that the driving beats of the chorus and darker harmonies called for lyrical content that was strong and assertive, and challenged the listener to think beyond the obvious ideas and sets of imagery being used. We weren’t afraid to write something that could be interpreted a number of ways and could be seen as sexually charged; it’s always interesting when you’re using a lot of metaphors to see what people make of the meaning.

Ravines is the creation of composer/producer Patrick Shanahan and singer/song-writer Alex Louise. The pair began working together in late 2012 recording and mixing Alex’s original folk/acoustic tracks. Changing pace, they began writing collaboratively producing more electronically based tunes.
